Rocky Mtn Remodel’s Basement Finishing Process
A Proven Process. Zero Surprises.
Every Rocky Mtn Remodel project follows the same simple, transparent process, so you always know what to expect and when.
Our four-step process
Step 1 of 4
Free Estimate
We visit your home, assess the space, and provide a detailed written estimate with no surprises. No pressure, no obligation.
One of our project managers visits your home. No salesperson, no commission pressure. We measure the space, listen to your vision, and answer every question you have. Within a few days you receive a written proposal with a fixed price, a realistic timeline, and a clear scope of work. If you want to move forward, great. If not, there's no obligation and no follow-up pressure.
Step 2 of 4
Design
We work with you to finalize the layout, materials, and finishes. You approve everything before a single nail is driven.
Once you're ready to proceed, we finalize your floor plan, help you select materials and finishes, and submit all permit applications on your behalf. We handle the city so you don't make a single call to the permit office. Nothing goes to the build phase until you've signed off on the design in writing. Changes are easier and cheaper at this stage, so we take the time to get every detail right.
Step 3 of 4
Build
Our licensed team gets to work with precision and care. We keep your home clean and communicate progress every step of the way.
Our licensed trades handle every phase: framing, rough electrical, rough plumbing, insulation, drywall, texture, paint, flooring, trim, and fixtures. We pull all permits and pass all required inspections. Your home is treated with respect. We protect floors and doorways, clean up daily, and never leave a mess overnight. You'll hear from us regularly with progress updates.
Step 4 of 4
Reveal
We walk through the finished space together, address any punch list items, and hand you the keys to your new room.
Before we consider a project done, we do a detailed walkthrough with you and address every item on your punch list, no matter how small. We don't consider a project complete until you're completely satisfied. Every project is backed by our 2-year workmanship warranty. Most clients tell us the reveal is better than they imagined.

No Guesswork. No Games.
Most remodeling horror stories share the same root cause: unclear scope, surprise costs, and a contractor who goes quiet mid-project. Our process is designed specifically to prevent all three.
Fixed-Price Contracts
We don't do time-and-materials. You get a fixed price in writing before work begins. If we underestimate, that's our problem, not yours.
Permit-Pulled Builds
Every project is permitted and inspected by the city. This protects your home's resale value and ensures the work meets code, not just our word.
Direct Communication
You'll have your project manager's direct line. We return calls and texts the same day, every day, throughout the build.
Before You Call, Read This
How long does a basement finish take from start to finish? +
Most basement finishing projects take 6–12 weeks from the time we break ground. The biggest variable is permit processing time, which varies by city but typically takes 2–4 weeks. We factor that into the schedule upfront so you're never waiting on us. Only on the city.
Do I need to be home during construction? +
No. Many of our clients work full-time and rarely see us in person. We coordinate a key or access code during the estimate appointment. You'll get regular updates so you're never out of the loop, and we'll always give you advance notice if we need you on-site for a decision.
What happens if you find a problem mid-project, like mold or bad plumbing? +
It happens occasionally, and we handle it transparently. If we find something unexpected, we stop, document it, show you what we found, and give you a written change order before doing anything additional. You approve the scope and cost before we proceed. No surprises.
How do payments work? +
We use a 4-draw payment schedule: deposit at signing, rough-in, drywall, and final completion. This keeps cash flowing to your project so work never stalls out mid-build. Each draw is tied to completed work, so you always know exactly what you're paying for.
Can I make changes after the project starts? +
Yes, though changes get more expensive the further into the build you are. We're most flexible during the design phase, which is why we invest time there upfront. During construction, we can accommodate most changes with a written change order that adjusts the price and timeline accordingly.
What does your warranty cover? +
We provide a 2-year workmanship warranty on all completed work. If something we built fails or was installed incorrectly, we come back and fix it at no charge. This covers structural, mechanical, and finish work performed by our team.
